Nintendo will release two more 3DS editions across the Pacific, including an Eevee-themed/striped XL that will be sold through a lottery at Pokémon Center locations starting June 22.

The Metallic Red system is a standard-sized 3DS that will hit stores in Japan on June 13.

This is called shape memory. It’s made from an alloy of titanium and nickel (I believe it’s called nitinol). It has the ability to “remember” the shape it’s taken.

When cold you can bend it whatever which way, but once you heat it (or in this case put it in what I presume is hot water) it will take the original shape.

I’ve heard of this method being used to fix resin ball-jointed dolls that have been dented or gnawed on by pets. Briefly immersing the piece in water results in the resin popping back out into its original, cast form.

It’s pretty awesome. :D

I’m making a serious effort to get some projects done, INCLUDING the novel, but in the meantime I’ll be reading other folks work and betaing my very first card game, “Die In A Fire”. I’ll be using card stock and sleeves for the playtesting phase but I’ve already put in a request for an estimate for the initial print run.

If all goes well and the game tests well, I’ll be looking for an artist/graphic designer in a few weeks and setting up a Kickstarter in a couple weeks after that. At which point I probably won’t be able to shut up about the game so just be advised.

Okay, guys. I very seldom ask for stuff like this outright, but I’m making an effort to both be more direct and get published at some point before the heat death of the universe. So, here we are.

Short version: I need people to preread my novel draft and provide a significant amount of feedback. The draft is about 200 pages long and shouldn’t take you more than a day or two to read through. If you think you can get full and complete feedback to me before the end of May, send me a mail at john.s.zeitler at gmail.com. Regardless, please give this a reblog so that it gets some more attention.

Long version:

I’ve done NaNoWriMo for years now and have been producing drafts for books that I try to get published, but never actually manage to get motivated enough to finish. However, this past year I wrote what I felt was a really powerful young adult/mildly supernatural book (although it’s kind of scattershot at times because I shifted the story focus about three chapters in without realizing it) and I want to get it published. I mean, really REALLY published. But I need a second draft before I can do that, and in order to know what I should fix in that draft I need more people to tell me what’s wrong with it. I have some changes in mind I’d like to make as well but I want to see how they mesh with what other people think first.

This is where you come in. I need people who are willing to help me make this story— about a troubled young boy who is so alienated from the world that the people offering him his first chance at saving himself are mistaken for people trying to ruin his life— land on the shelves in between “Divergence” and “Gone”. I need people who are going to be merciless and uncompromising in their opinions (and what better place to find people like that than the internet?), but fair and honest. I don’t want to hear just what you didn’t like, but what you did like, what worked well, what sucked donkey sack, what sounds dumb coming out of a character’s mouth, and what you’re going to use to caption your next fifty animated gifs. And, I need it fast.

The speed element is kind of an imposition, but I want to make sure that I can get all of the feedback read and a new outline ready by the middle of June. I want to have the second draft done by August, and a second round of proofing will happen then (don’t feel obligated to do both if you don’t want). The ultimate goal is that, by November, I’ll either be ready for a third draft OR sending query letters to literary agents.

If this sounds like something you can do, please send me a mail at the address in the “short version” section. Even if you don’t want/don’t have time, please reblog this to get it some more exposure in the hopes that someone WILL want to do it. Everything helps at this point.
